Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese Islands is the easternmost of the islands that separates the Aegean from the Mediterranean. It is less than 18 km from Turkey wich influence can be seen both in historical (the fortified cities of Christianity against Islam and the mosques of the period of the Ottoman conquest), and economic. It is about 100 km long and wide an average of thirty, dry and warm in the south and subjected to winds fresh and moist on the north coast, is inhabited by 130,000 people, half of which reside in the capital: Rhodes city.
